They're Off

At about 10.15 this morning they slipped the moorings and sailed out from St Mary's harbour under cruising chute - looking quite nice really! All a last minute rush as predicted, with David probably the most rushed of all only having arrived back in Scilly less than 24 hours earlier! They are looking forward to a nice sail across Biscay with the first planned stop in Baiona in Spain, just south of Vigo. Pete's promised me a phone call from about half way across Biscay with a position so that we can put our first x on the chart!

YESS ! getting away is 90% of the battle!
has he got an on-board e-mail facility, San?
You mention a mid Biscay phone call ...... from a Sat-phone, presumably?
VERY impressed with the 'mascot' photo, we'll treasure it.

Hey glad you could check in! He has no onboard email whilst at sea, just the satphone, and his mobile when in range of the coast. He does have a wireless laptop which he is hoping to get online with whilst in port, or else it will be internet cafes. The sat phone is a prepaid package which gives us 500 minutes. We will save it mainly for the trans atlantic bits so that he can check in every 4/5 days and also get a weather forecast from me (I have been having chart reading lessons!)He will have it switched on whilst at sea though every day between 6-7pm so that if we need to get hold of them we can.
His mission is to get pictures of the tin of spam in as many different places as possible whilst en route which could be fun. Adam is already refusing to play such juvenile games when he joins the boat and has threatened to eat the spam to put an end to it!! Sx
